Our Philosophy

Craft & Construction

We don't chase trends. We build garments that get better with age. Every piece is constructed with techniques passed down through generations of master tailors.

What Sets Us Apart

Half-Canvas Construction

The horsehair canvas chest piece is the heart of every Roos Brothers jacket. Unlike fused interlinings found in fast fashion, our half-canvas construction allows the fabric to drape naturally and mold to your body over time. The result is a garment that improves with wear.

Natural Materials Only

Mother of pearl buttons that catch light. Natural horn buttons that develop unique patina. Cupro Bemberg lining that breathes like cotton and feels like silk. We refuse to use synthetic materials in any visible or tactile element of our garments.

Precision Stitching

18-22 stitches per inch, executed with single-needle construction throughout. This density creates stronger, more durable seams while producing the clean, refined lines that distinguish handcrafted garments from machine-made alternatives.

Full Lining Architecture

Every jacket and coat is fully lined in Cupro Bemberg from Asahi Kasei, Japan. This natural fiber lining wicks moisture, regulates temperature, and ensures every time you put on a Roos Brothers garment, it feels as luxurious as it looks.

Considered Fit

Our patterns are developed over months of fitting and adjustment. We balance modern silhouettes with classic proportions — a natural shoulder, a clean chest, a tapered waist — creating garments that flatter without constricting.

Finishing Details

Pick-stitched lapels. Silk-covered buttonholes. Hand-rolled pocket edges. Contrast under-collar felt. These finishing touches are invisible to the casual observer but unmistakable to anyone who knows what to look for.

Step by Step

The Construction Process

01

Pattern Cutting

Every garment begins with a precision-cut pattern. Our patterns account for fabric grain, drape, and natural body movement — a process that takes years to master.

02

Canvas Construction

A horsehair chest piece is hand-basted into the jacket front. Over time, it molds to the wearer's body, creating a natural, personalized drape that fused interlinings can never replicate.

03

Hand-Padded Shoulder

The sleeve head is hand-padded with wool felt, creating a soft, natural shoulder line. No stiff padding, no artificial structure — just the elegant slope of the human form.

04

Pick Stitching

Visible pick-stitching along the lapel edges is performed by hand. Each stitch is placed 2-3mm apart with absolute consistency — a signature of fine tailoring.

05

Working Buttonholes

Surgeon cuffs with working buttonholes on every jacket sleeve. Cut and finished by hand, these functional details are impossible to add after construction.

06

Final Pressing

Each finished garment is shaped on a steam press to set the roll of the lapel, the drape of the chest, and the clean lines of the trouser crease. The final signature of quality.

Our Promise

Every Roos Brothers garment is built to be worn for ten years, not ten washes. If a construction flaw ever appears, we will repair or replace it — no questions asked.
